Lockheed Martin is a publicly traded American aerospace, defence and security company formed in 1995 by the merger of Lockheed and Martin Marietta. Its Space division is the prime contractor for many of NASA's planetary spacecraft, including the Juno orbiter, MAVEN, the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter, OSIRIS-REx and the Orion crew capsule's structure. Lockheed builds the aeroshells that deliver Mars rovers through entry and descent, and it co-owns United Launch Alliance with Boeing. The company is one of the largest US defence contractors by revenue, trades on the NYSE as LMT, and discloses its financials in SEC filings.
